 ​פסל ואנדרטה כיצירות וויזואליות תלת ממדיות, נוצרו  לצורכי פולחן, האדרת אישים, הנצחת אירועים לאומיים, ועיצוב המרחב הציבורי. סדר הגודל וחומרי הגלם נקבעו על-פי התרבות, הסגנון, התקופה והזמינות. הספינקס בשדה הפירמידות בגיזה נחשב לפסל הגדול בעולם. 

​Statues and monuments, as three-dimensional visual works, were created for the purposes of worship, the glorification of personalities, the commemoration of national events, and the design of public spaces. The size and raw materials were determined by culture, style, period, and availability. The Sphinx in the Pyramid Field at Giza is considered the largest statue in the world.

אנדרטאות מייצגות את הזיכרון הלאומי ומנציחות מאורעות היסטוריים כמלחמה, גלעד ללוחמים, בריתות שלום או אישים היסטוריים. הקומפוזיציה אמורה לשקף את הסיפור של האתר, אך אנדרטה גדולה ומורכבת יותר מפסל וניצבת במיקום מרכזי, לכן קיים קושי יחסי ביצירת קומפוזיציה שכוללת את כול מרכיביה. בתצלום אנדרטת השואה בברלין.   

Monuments represent national memory and commemorate historical events such as war, a truce for warriors, peace treaties, or historical figures. The composition is supposed to reflect the story of the site, but a monument is larger and more complex than a statue and stands in a central location, so there is relative difficulty in creating a composition that includes all its components.
